VIP Memberships were introduced in the beginning of 2008. This membership allowed users to unlock the ability to publish videos publicly, use more clips in the Movie Maker, have the ability to get the movie nominated as a Crowd Pleaser or Must See, chances of being on the Spotlight, and having the ability to comment freely.
VIP memberships had two tiers. Users could purchase a one month subscription for $4.95 US, and could purchase a six month subscription for $19.95 US.
Before VIP memberships, "non-VIP" users had the same ability as VIP users did. This means they were able to publish movies, comment freely, and so on. After Zinc Roe ended their partnership with Qubo there were no other sources of profit for the site, so this system introduced a "pay for feature" system.
In August 2019, VIP memberships received their first update in a while, with the removal of six month memberships. On July 28, 2020, VIP memberships were removed from the website as a whole, as a precursor to the shutdown process.
